Janet Certificate Service

If you have been affected by the 'heartbleed' bug and need to replace SSL certificates as a result of this vulnerability, please visit our community group to find out how to obtain these.

SSL server certificates enable the encryption of information passing between the user’s web browser and the web service, or website, being visited. This ensures personal or sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details, cannot be read by anyone other than the intended recipient. Certificates also offer your users assurance about the identity of the server on which a website is hosted and hence confidence that the site is genuine.

The service offers a range of features that have been designed to speed up the process of requesting certificates. An online system automates the certificate request process for all and domains. We can also issue certificates for other domains for which you are the registered owner. The interface enables you to monitor and manage new and existing certificates (including certificate revocation), and when certificates are close to expiry, you will receive alerts automatically generated by the system.

From 3 June 2013, a charge was introduced for the service to ensure its continuation, and we've also improved the way you can purchase, manage and update your certificates. The new JCS web app is a simple-to-use online app available on the Janet Community website.

Please read the Janet Certificate Service Group page for full details of this change, including more information about the charges and purchasing bundles.
