Manufacturer's Response - Aethra Vega Star Gold
1. User Interface and Remote Control - Multiple Keystrokes for simple operations, no VGA quick key.
Response: Current remote controller is designed to be general for the entire Aethra line-up and we agree that a direct quick key for the VGA input selection would be welcome and useful although may create some level of confusion for users with the entry level systems. A new remote control is currently under study and will be introduced soon.
2. MCU - Current speaker at remote site did not see Previous Speaker but saw their own video back from the MCU.
Response: This is due to the capacity of internal CPU. During MCU mode the CPU is under severe data processing and we have preferred to keep it under lower pressure. The Own Video back from MCU is a confirmation the Current Speaker is the one actually seen as "Current Speaker".
3. Poor video quality at low bandwidths, very blocky.
Response: We feel this comment very subjective and we cannot comment. We are also receiving different opinion from the Market. We can guarantee that our R&D is continuously working to improve quality to offer high quality under current Industry Standards.
4. At high bandwidths H.261 performed better than H.263 and was less "Jerky" on turntable movement tests.
Response: This is due to H.263 Codec that has some limitations in very high moving images using half pixel compensation.
In Video Conferencing the use of very high moving images is very much limited and we have considered this as a minor point. It could be easily modified but we feel it is a good compromise for the overall performance of the CPU that we have preferred to be less involved in data calculation under very high moving images.
5. Snapshot interoperability issues with Tandberg endpoints.
Response: This problem was noticed in some previous versions and has been fully solved with firmware version n. 5.xx.
6. Video Quality interoperability issues with Polycom 512 endpoints.
Response: We have no interoperability problems known with Polycom at any level of connection.
We are open to have more details on this issue if available.
7. Excessive Fan Noise from unit and power supply.
Response: Current platform needs cooling system and we are continuously looking for a supplier with better fan performances. We have some options currently under study and will be delivered to the market in the coming future.
8. Cannot select 4CIF for a particular video input - Document Camera.
Response: This feature is under study and will be delivered in the coming new SW releases.
