JANET Videoconferencing Service (JVCS)

JVCS - OnDemand

JVCS-OnDemand is currently only available to users with '.ac.uk.' email domains

All other users who feel that they require use of JVCS-OnDemand may email vidconf@jvcs.ja.net to request authorisation.

JVCS-OnDemand is an intuitive, easy-to-use facility for creating an instant videoconference. It is available to users at all JANET primary connected organisations. Registered users may also invite guests into videoconferences. It allows users, with an H.323 compliant .endpoint., to create multipoint (2 or more endpoints) videoconferences via a simple web interface. Videoconferences can be either launched immediately or scheduled to start within the next two working days.

Integral to JVCS-OnDemand is an instant assessment tool which has been developed to provide an online audio and video assessment for IP (H.323) based videoconferencing endpoints. This service, called JVCS-Check, is available to all JVCS-OnDemand registered users.

Endpoint Requirements

To utilise this service, there is a list of minimum requirements which must be met in order to achieve optimum quality. Details of these requirements can be seen in the JVCS-OnDemand User Guide (PDF).

Registering to use the service

New JVCS-OnDemand users must complete an on-line registration form to obtain a login account and also register their endpoint with the service. See the OnDemand Registration notes (PDF) for further details.
