Register with Us

To use AGSC services an Access Grid node and each indivdual using a node need to be registered with us on the JANET AG Booking Service. During registration users will be prompted to select a home node at which point they need to use the add new node option (see below) if the node hasn't previously been registered. If a node has already been registered and a user just needs to register themself - when prompted to select a home node the user just chooses the node at their location that they will regularly be using.
Once registered they should receive a successfully registered email and a password - if registration rejection email is received then they are asked to please talk to us at the AGSC and we will investigate.
Add a New Node
You can now access the booking system and proceed registering the node. There are four types of registration - depending on your login settings you may have a more limited choice of a couple of types:
UK Academic room based node - For UK room or studio nodes available to organisations with a JANET connection. Room or studio nodes tend to be in a dedicated space such as a seminar or meeting room, usually with multiple projectors on a display screen (often a whole wall), as well as multiple cameras and microphones, etc. Full registration will mean it is recommended that the node is subject to a full Node Test every six months to ensure that users have a high quality experience and to help you to administer the node.
UK Academic desktop system - For desktop nodes (or PIGs) using UK academic JANET connection. Desktop nodes normally involve a single camera and a headset on an individual PC. This type of registration is classed as a guest registration and it is recommended to have a guest registration test.
UK Commercial room or desktop - For full room or desktop nodes at organisations without a JANET connection. This type of registration is classed as a guest registration and it is recommended to have a guest registration test.
International room or desktop - For non UK based nodes of all types. This type of registration is classed as a guest registration and it is recommended to have a guest registration test.
You need to give the node a name in the format name@location.ac.uk, and also some contact details for the node. You also have to state whether the primary software you are using is either the AG Toolkit (all versions) or IOCOM. An optional field to input is the IG Pix URL which you will receive from the AGSC upon registration.
If you're adding a node independently of your own registration then you'll need to add one or more email addresses for the node notification list.
If you have any questions about registration, please talk to us at the AGSC.
