Guest Registration

The Guest Registration Test is a simplified QA test for desktop or studio nodes and users from overseas. It is also for UK non-academic or commercial users who wish to access our venue servers which are normally restricted to UK QA registered academic and research related studio nodes. This may be useful in ensuring connectivity between sites by having them all use the same multicast bridge, for example. To ensure that each Access Grid node conforms to an acceptable standard of quality, we require these nodes to undergo some basic checks.
Once you have registered with the AGSC then either please talk to us to arrange a test date, or alternatively please attend the Open Test Session held on a Tuesday at 10am (UK time).
Structure of the Test
Tests for each node should last less than 15 minutes. Full details of the Node test schedule can be found here, although the AGSC reserves the right to add or remove metrics and change methods of measurement according to good practice.
Passing/Failing the Test
The aim of the Guest Registration Test is to provide a quick, basic check for nodes that do not qualify for the full Node test. If we have time, we'll help nodes that would not pass without it. However, the onus is on the node taking the test to have a reasonable level of quality to pass.
If a node fails the Guest Registration Test, then access to services will be withdrawn until the next scheduled series of Guest Registration Tests.
