6. Training Services (SLA J.6) [more information]

Sixty five courses have been delivered so far this year at ten venues throughout the UK. The course portfolio now stands at eighteen courses, with
the new "Virtualisation Fundamentals" course and "JANET Roaming Fundamentals" entering the schedule. The Shibboleth courses have also been
completely revised to cover Shibboleth 2 and "Introduction to the UK federation" revised to reflect new practices connected with the implementation of Shibboleth 2.

The schedule for 2010 is now available on the website and courses are available for booking. Prices will be increased for the first time since 2006 for courses held in 2010. The courses are run on a cost recovery basis and the price rises reflect the increased costs in running the courses. The Training Credit Scheme will still allow organisations with Primary connections to purchase multiple course places at a reduced cost.

Work is continuing on development of other new courses including IPv6 Fundamentals, Multicast Fundamentals, Wireless LAN Analysis, Hands-on Digital Forensics and JANET Roaming Implementation.

The development of EdLab, our online learning and collaboration facility, is continuing. We have developed a number of interactive online resources supporting the UK federation and are currently developing re-usable resource templates, allowing us to produce high quality resources quickly and in-house, to fulfil just-in-time training needs.
