NETWORKSHOP 37
31 March - 2 April 2009 at the University of Cambridge
The Venue
Networkshop 37 will be held at the University of Cambridge, on the Sidgwick Site, with excellent accommodation with en-suite facilities being reserved at several of the Colleges.
Links to the University’s website for further information on the locations we will be using can be found on the Networkshop website:
http://www.ja.net/services/events/2009/networkshop-37.html
More information for visitors to Cambridge, including travel and site maps, can be found at:
http://www.cam.ac.uk/visitors/
Car Parking
Car parking in the city centre is limited and expensive. There is a Park & Ride service but this is not 24 hours. We have reserved some space at the Wilberforce Athletics Ground, a short walk from West Road, and permits will be issued on a first come first served basis. Delegates who indicate that they will be travelling by car on the online booking form will be contacted nearer to the time to check who in your party (if travelling with colleagues) will be the driver.
All conference facilities are within a few minutes walk of each other, as you can see by looking at the campus map to be found at: http://www.cam.ac.uk/map/v4/drawmap.cgi?mp=main;xx=1300;yy=400
Scroll down the map to reveal our locations, the first two of which are in the area marked ‘Sidgwick Site’.

Accommodation
All delegates will be accommodated in single, en-suite rooms at one of four Cambridge Colleges: Selwyn, Clare College – Memorial Court, Gonville & Caius – Stephen Hawking Building, and Murray Edwards. Allocation will be in accordance with the dates you have booked – not all Colleges have availability on Sunday and/or Monday night.
If you wish to be accommodated in the same college as a colleague please ensure you note this on the online booking form.
Catering
Lunches will served on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the Selwyn College dining room, as will dinner on Tuesday night. For lunch delegates can choose from hot and cold selections or for a lighter meal, a ‘Grab and Go’ lunch bag. Refreshments and post-lunch desserts and coffee will be served in all three Exhibition areas. On Tuesday evening you are invited to a Drinks Reception with Exhibitors.
Conference Dinner
On the evening of Wednesday 1 April coaches will pick up at the West Road Concert Hall and at Murray Edwards College to take you on a 30 minute tour of Cambridge, with commentary provided by experienced local tour guides. Our final destination will be St. John’s College for our Conference Dinner. St John's College was founded in 1511 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of King Henry VII, and is the second largest of the constituent Colleges of the University of Cambridge.
After dinner the coaches will return you to your Colleges for overnight accommodation.
Every year we find there are some who prefer to make their own arrangements for dinner on the Wednesday night – if you wish to opt out please indicate this on the booking form.Conference Package
The conference runs from lunchtime on Tuesday 31 March to lunchtime on Thursday 2 April 2009. The Exhibition will be open on Tuesday at 09:30, closing at lunchtime on Thursday. Both residential and non-residential packages include morning and afternoon refreshments, lunches, a drinks reception with exhibitors on Tuesday evening, followed by an evening meal at Selwyn College.
The residential package also includes the Conference Dinner on Wednesday night at St. John’s College. Bed and breakfast accommodation will be provided in single en-suite rooms on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Accommodation is also available on Monday night (at extra cost) for early arrivals, including those attending JANET training courses on the Monday (see http://www.ja.net/training) or presentations by other companies. It is important that you book this at the same time as your conference place – accommodation on Monday night is limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We cannot guarantee accommodation for bookings made later for presentations by other companies and you may have to book this independently.
Sunday night: please note, the small number of rooms for Sunday night referred to on the form are reserved for the use of conference staff and trainers. If you require accommodation on Sunday night please refer to the administrator – networkshop@julienich.f9.co.uk – to check availability and your eligibility before submitting the booking form.
NON-JANET: A limited number of non-residential places will be made available for delegates from non-JANET connected sites wishing to attend the event. Please see the delegate rates printed below.
