Biographies

Jeremy Sharp, JANET(UK)

Jeremy is Head of the Strategic Technologies division of JANET(UK). The role of Strategic Technologies is to provide a view of how network technologies and applications will shape the future of JANET. In particular, it is responsible for the development and implementation of initiatives which lead to the development of specific new JANET services. Jeremy is part of the senior management team that collectively manage the divisional structure of the company.

John Naughton,  Open University

John Naughton is Professor of the Public Understanding of Technology at the Open University where he directs the 'Relevant Knowledge' programme in the Faculty of Mathematics, Computing and Technology.  He is also: the Observer's technology columnist; a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge; Academic Adviser to the Arcadia Fellowships Project at Cambridge University Library; a non-exec director of the Ndiyo project; a co-founder and director of Cambridge Visual Networks; an historian of the Internet; a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts; and a long-term blogger.

Tim Kidd, JANET(UK)

Tim is the JANET(UK) Head of Operations, with responsibilities for operational services relating to the JANET backbone, for various value added services and for computer emergency response through the JANET CSIRT. Tim is part of the senior management team that collectively manage the divisional structure of the company.
