ISP Membership Account
(A Membership Account in no way represents endorsement by JANET(UK) of any named organisation)
List of ISPs
Commercial ISPs in the UK may apply for an ISP Membership Account with JANET(UK). Eligible organisations are generally ISPs, who will find the scheme appropriate when applying for multiple domain names or modifications for their customers. Thus, applicants should be an active ISP seeking to register either new domain names or to make modifications to DNS entries for already existing domain names under ac.uk or gov.uk. There is no charge to ISPs joining our ISP Membership Account although membership is at JANET(UK)'s sole discretion.
JANET Customers may also apply to have an ISP Membership Account, if they anticipate that they will be regularly submitting new requests for registration.
To apply for a membership account please complete the
Template For Requesting an ISP Membership Account with JANET(UK)
and email it to naming-admin@ja.net. JANET(UK) will process your application and, if successful, advise you of your Membership Account Number. The Membership Account Number must be quoted on all correspondence to JANET(UK) concerning the Domain Name Service.
Members of the ISP Membership Account will be invoiced monthly only for those new name registrations processed and accepted within that given monthly period, together with any renewals confirmed with the given period, and for any modification requests actioned for domain names registered prior to 1 April 1999.
It is the responsibility of the member ISP to ensure that they provide JANET(UK) with up-to-date contact information. Failure to do so could result in delays being incurred for subsequent delegation requests.
ISPs upon joining the ISP Membership Account thereby agree to accept the responsibility to pay their JANET(UK) invoices in a timely manner. If an ISP fails to pay an invoice within three months JANET(UK) reserves the right to remove the DNS entries for their customers for which no payment has been received. The consequence to the ISPs customers is that they will lose their DNS entry and thereby their email and web access through this address.
JANET(UK) reserves the right to amend the terms of the ISP Membership Account without prior agreement with each individual ISP registered in the Scheme.
Renewals:
Members will receive a renewal notice one month prior to the renewal date of any ac.uk and gov.uk domains associated with their account. The renewal notice must be returned, indicating whether the domains listed are to be renewed. If a domain is to be renewed, the charge will be added to the appropriate monthly invoice. However, should the renewal notice not be returned by the specified date, it will be deemed that the name is no longer required and so the name will be removed from the DNS with immediate effect. The renewal notices will be sent out electronically, therefore it is imperative that members ensure that JANET(UK) have up-to-date contact details for their organisation.
Data Protection:
When ISPs send a completed template to JANET(UK) to join the ISP Membership Account, they should be aware that they are making an offer to form a contract for their account. The contract will be formed when JANET(UK) accepts the submitted template. ISPs should ensure that they have the consent of all people whose personal data is provided to JANET(UK). JANET(UK) has a data protection statement for domain names.
