PageOne Communications, who manage the JANET txt service, today announced the launch of its new SMS service for Microsoft Outlook, available to JANET txt customers.
PageOne’s Outlook SMS service provides a seamless method of sending and receiving SMS messages directly from Microsoft Outlook email software.
Developed specifically for the education community, JANET txt is a low cost suite of secure SMS-based messaging services provided by PageOne on behalf of JANET(UK). With mobile messaging becoming an increasingly effective communication tool amongst schools, colleges and universities, the addition of Outlook integration presents the opportunity to blend new technology with the familiarity of an existing infrastructure.
Compatible with both Outlook 2007 and 2010, PageOne’s Outlook SMS service utilises Office Messaging Service (OMS), enabling JANET txt users to quickly and easily compose and send SMS messages to mobile devices, all from within Outlook, as easily as sending an email. Unlike other Outlook plug-ins designed for the education sector, with PageOne’s service there is no new software to install, no new workflows to learn or training required. By adding the service to Microsoft Outlook JANET txt users immediately have a fully functioning SMS service up and running in minutes, and can begin composing SMS messages to send to their Outlook address book straight away. It’s perfect for the diverse requirements of users, be it regular marketing campaigns or for more ad-hoc messaging needs.
