JANET(UK) aspires to be a ‘one stop shop’ for networking solutions and expertise, including areas of connectivity provision that are not currently addressed by actual JANET services. On behalf of our customers we monitor technical trends, make judgements, and where appropriate provide advice and support. With the growing use of the JANET Lightpath service and an emerging requirement for bandwidth on demand, JANET(UK) will soon be launching a number of activities to gain direct experience of control plane technologies and dynamic network circuit provisioning software. A test-bed will be created and the results used to inform future network service developments.

JANET is currently initiating standards work to take federated identity management to applications beyond the web such as e-mail, instant messaging, file sharing, or remote computing. Read the full story
