Following a successful launch in April this year, JANET 3G has now gone live! From 22nd July eduroam enabled education and research organisations can access this new high capacity data service from a dedicated on-line portal.
aql, which manages JANET 3G on behalf of JANET(UK), has developed a simple online portal to enable quick and easy processing of orders. Once an account has been set up and the necessary checks made, orders can easily be made online. For requests made before 3pm, SIMs can be delivered the next day and ready to use; or organisations can keep a stock of inactive SIMs for instant availability to be activated via the web portal.
The simple order procedure means that individuals do not have to buy services personally and then claim back from their organisation. Administrators will have full control of account creation, use and deletion.
Organisations also benefit from a flexible and robust billing engine. This enables administrators to view data usage ‘at a glance’ across their range of users. This platform also handles all billing transactions, ranging from direct debit or credit accounts to multiple cost centres.
A number of flexible packages are available which allow organisations to choose the length of commitment they wish to make, ranging from a one month rolling ‘Pay as you Use’ service to a two year contract. Users can access the service using a range of devices such as a SIM, dongle, or mi-fi device.
