JANET Videoconferencing User Requirement Survey
Overall, there was found to be a high user satisfaction of the services, however it was clear that there could be greater benefit to the research and education sectors from increased use and penetration of the services. This could be achieved by: a stronger focus on promoting the application and its attendant benefits (rather that the technical bias that is put forward at the moment) through better marketing; increasing the range of interworking capability with other popular videoconferencing products and; offering a richer range of tools to strengthen the collaborative working alongside the videoconference.
It was also clear that a sustainable model for providing the services is required as they continue to grow and the pressure on JANET funding increases - This in part will be helped by a number of efficiencies that have been identified through changing the services operating model and redeveloping the booking interface.
A programme of work is currently being defined to take forward the recommendations from the review.
