SIP Trial has now ended
| Thank you to all those who took part. JANET are currently collating all feedback, which will help us to improve the way a user of the JANET Videoconferencing Service registers and books a videoconference with a SIP endpoint. |
Members of the community who already have a SIP capable videoconferencing system are still able to continue using their SIP endpoints as part of the JANET Videoconfernecing Service. Further information and details of how to register for this free service can be found on the JANET Videoconferencing Registration page.
We have enabled SIP on JANET Videoconferencing, to allow registered users to be able to schedule calls to both SIP and H.323 endpoints, and use both hardware and a range of freely available (and often free of charge) software endpoints to initiate direct dial calls over SIP.
Registered users can register a SIP endpoint in exactly the same way a user would register a H.323 endpoint. Users can also book a videoconferencing session using a registered SIP endpoint or by adding SIP enabled video conferencing systems as a guest.
Any member of the community who wishes to take part in the trial is asked to give feedback on the ease of use of both the registration and booking process, and general comments/feedback to be fed into the future improvement of the JANET Videoconferencing Service.
