JANET MULTICAST APPLICATIONS

Some common multicast applications and sources of these applications are:

• Access Grid. As part of the UK e-Science programme a national and eight regional e-science centres have been established, each of which have installed an Access Grid node. There are other organisations connected to JANET who may also plan to install Access Grid nodes.
• Freewire TV. Many UK Universities are subscribing to Free TV for their student halls of residence. This service allows students to access via multicast a range of channels free of charge on their PC. More information about the service can be found here.
