THE JANET WIRELESS ADVISORY GROUP (WAG)

The JANET WAG was established in 2003 to provide advice and dissemination of information on wireless networking technologies to the JANET community, as well as guidance to JANET(UK) on work requirements in the wireless area. The WAG consists of Higher and Further Education organisations and industry representatives who meet every quarter, as well as assist in organising JANET wireless events and generating whitepapers and briefing notes for the community. The WAG operates within a Terms of Reference that has recently been revised to reflect the changes in the wireless landscape over the past years of its operation. These documents are reviewed annually to incorporate advancements in standards and technologies.

  • Public Mailing List <wireless-admin@jiscmail.ac.uk>. The WAG operates a public mailing list for the community to discuss wireless issues. The list is available to all members of the JANET community who have an interest in wireless technologies and WAG members are active contributors.

The wireless-admin@jiscmail.ac.uk list archive is available under http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/archives/wireless-admin.html
  • Call for case studies. The WAG has issued a call for wireless case studies to the JANET community, requesting JANET connected organisations to produce a case study outlining their experience in wireless networking (both fixed and mobile). Full details on how to submit a proposal to write a case study are available, together with funding information. Case studies which have already been produced are also available on the JANET website.
