JANET Multicast Beacon

Please note that the beacons are currently unavailable,pending migration to a more stable platform!

The information given below refers to JANET(UK)'s current multicast beacon infrastructure. Work is under way to deploy a new infrastructure based upon the Dbeacon tool.

PLEASE NOTE: The NLANR beacon on the JANET Beacon is running patched v1.3 software. You must be running v1.3 beacon software to get your clients to talk to this server. See the installation page for more details and downloads.

The Beacons:

• JANET Public Beacon: This beacon is publicly available for the academic and research community's use
• JANET Access Grid Beacon: This beacon is aimed at confirming the connectivity of Access Grid conferencing facilities
• JANET Regional Network Beacon: This beacon is for the use of Regional Network Operators for beacons directly connected to Regional Networks in the UK

• Dbeacon under development Use group address 233.3.18.5 and port 30185 IPv4 ASM only
