Support

JANET(UK) as managers of the UK federation offer the following support tools:

• UK federation website with information on areas such as: the joining process, participation options, membership rules, attribute usage, available services, current members and documentation.
• The federation helpdesk for queries and application/registration
• Training and briefing events

JISC as co-funders of the UK federation provide various support mechanisms:

• Funding the provision of the Athens service until July 2008
• Providing support for institutions, publishers and other service providers through the JISC Access Management Outreach Team
• Providing case studies, reports, toolkits and advice from the work carried out in its ‘early adopter’ programmes
• Making the services hosted by MIMAS, EDINA and other JISC services compliant with federated access management technologies
• Funding the development of the Athens-UK Federation gateways to support inter-working between UK Federation and Athens sites and service providers. These allow institutions that adopt federated access management systems to access resources protected by Athens. Sites continuing to use Athens will also be able to access UK Federation-protected resources. These gateways will be funded until July 2008.
