JANET POLICIES
Individuals and organisations that use the JANET network are required to obey the terms of use set by JISC for the network as set in the Terms for the Provision of the JANET service. This requires compliance with three policies, all of which have links on the JANET Policy Documents page.
- The JANET Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) states the uses that individuals and organisations may make of the JANET network.Further information is also available:
- The JANET Connection Policy states which individuals and organisations may be given access to the JANET network. A paper discussing the reasons for this Policy was presented to the JISC Committee on Networking in 2008.
- The JANET Security Policy requires individuals and organisations to take steps to protect the security of the JANET network and establishes JANET-CERT as a central team to assist in improving security. Further information on specific aspects is available:
Site Policies
Individual sites should also have their own policies for use of computers and networks, applying to their members and other users of their systems. A selection of site regulations, together with warning banners and other notices, is available. Users should ensure that they are aware of and abide by all the regulations which apply to their use of computers and networks.
