IPTV Special Interest Group

JANET(UK) identified IPTV and VOD as strong areas of development and as a result formed the IPTV Special Interest Group (SIG), which is made up of representatives from universities and public service broadcasters. It is intended to help shape the future of IPTV on JANET and identify any technical, process and usability issues relating to IPTV.

The group will also :

    • Discuss and identify what services are required to provide or improve both new and existing services
    • Discuss copyright issues surrounding IPTV
    • Trial new technologies / services as relevant

The IPTV Special Interest Group was created with the intention of helping to define the JANET Internet and Broadcast Media Strategy as well as to identify appropriate IPTV technologies that could be deployed to the JANET community.
