Streaming Media Special Interest Group

In 2008, JANET(UK) created the IPTV Special Interest Group, after a clear subject area for development. In 2010, it was decided that the focus on IPTV no reflected the needs of the JANET commnuity, and a more generalised focus on streaming media over the nework was more approriate.

As a result, JANET(UK) has decided to change the name of the IPTV Special Interest Group to the Streaming Media Special Interest Group, which will be dedicated to defining and shaping the development of relevant media content focused technology areas. The group will be used to further understand the potential of providing services to the JANET community and to ultimately help to create services which will meet their needs.
