Research Requirements

The first element of the consulation with the research community has been a

Research Requirements Workshop which was held on 23-34 June 2010 at the Kavli Royal Society International Centre, Chicheley Hall, Bedfordshire.

A report describing the workshop outcomes will be available here later in July 2010, and planning is now beginning for a number of more focused meetings where requirements in specific areas can be explored in greater detail. As these evolve, more information will be provided, but the current list of areas is given below.

• Optical Networking
• Network Research
• Wireless
• Visualisation and High-Definition media

The topic of energy efficient infrastructure ("Green ICT") is likely to be included both as a network research topic, and also as part of the theme of Business and Enterprise requirements as part of the broader requirements gathering activity.
