Development Programme
JANET is one of the world's leading research and education networks. To ensure that JANET and its services continue to meet and enhance our users' requirements, JANET(UK) undertakes a technical programme that identifies emerging technologies and then develops production services.
The Strategic Technologies Division is tasked with delivering the programme. All projects currently under development can be accessed from the menu on the left.
A booklet outlining the development programme is now available.
JANET Development Bulletin
The JANET Development Bulletin has been designed to keep users up to date on progress within the development programme. The bulletin will provide an up to date summary of the technologies and applications to the JANET network, outlining important milestones and future areas of interest. To receive the email bulletin, please sign up to the Development Mailing List.
The latest Development Update bulletin is available to read.
Previous editions of the Update Bulletins can be viewed.
Out and About - Find out what the Development Team are up to.
Members of the Strategic Technologies Division regularly attend conferences, meetings and events to keep up to date with developments in technologies, networking and the education sector. This is important as the knowledge we gain from these sources, beit from other NRENs, commercial organisations or international consortia, drives some of the developments within JANET.
To give you a flavour of our experiences, we have developed 'Out and About' which gives you snippets of some of the main themes, outcomes, advancements and opinions gauged from some of the events attended. We will continue to add to this page throughout the year with the hope to develop it into a more interactive tool in the future.
International Collaboration
JANET(UK) will be funding a programme of collaborative ventures with other research and education networking organisations within the international community. Interested parties who fulfil the criteria are invited to take part in the programme.
