Daniel Perry Joins JANET(UK) as Head, Strategic Business

1/5/09: Daniel Perry has joined JANET(UK) as Head, Strategic Business. Reporting to the CEO he will be responsible for supporting the development of the company’s business strategy which will ensure that the JANET network and service provision continues to be sustainable, appropriate and fit to meet the needs of the network’s developing stakeholder and user bases.

This is a new post established to ensure that the future business models for network and service provision are effective, efficient and appropriate in the rapidly changing political, economic, social and technology environment in which JANET(UK) operates.

Dan brings with him significant senior management experience and a proven track record of successfully developing and implementing commercially viable strategies for organizations and products in the academic sector. He has developed cutting edge solutions, such as a leading portal for 3000+ students, and contributed to new thinking in a range of disciplines. Originally from a science and technology background, Dan is experienced in working to deliver solutions that create sustainable value for multiple stakeholders, has an MBA from Manchester Business School and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Notes: JANET(UK) is responsible for the development of JANET, the UK’s national research and education network on behalf of the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) for the UK Higher and Further Education Funding Councils. This comprises network infrastructure, middleware, applied services and training to meet the needs of research and the higher education, further education and school sectors as well as other qualifying public/private sector users.
