Governance and Logistics

The Stakeholder Consultative Panel was set up by JANET(UK)’s executive management along the following principles:

  • Chief Technology Officer (CTO), in consultation with stakeholders, leads on areas to be considered by the panel.
  • Head of Communications and Support (HCS) is responsible for the logistical and secretariat arrangements. This is not a committee, rather a panel, where each session will be in the form of a workshop and be dedicated to a specific subject(s) of key relevance to the stakeholders . The panel will not have a formal Chair as such. Proceedings and management of the panel sessions will be the responsibility of the CTO, or his nominated representative, who will appoint a suitably qualified facilitator for the session.
  • The nominated stakeholders will be represented by a organiser, mutually agreed between JANET(UK) and the stakeholder. While the organiser is welcome to attend, their principal task is to ensure that their stakeholder interests are represented by an appropriately qualified and expert delegate(s) with respect to the topics under consideration at any particular panel session. The composition of the panel, therefore, will be likely to change on a meeting by meeting basis.
  • The panel must meet at least twice a year and it is possible that this will increase to up to four times a year as the panel becomes more established.
  • The JANET(UK) Board will receive a synoptic report from the SCP sessions, specifically identifying the topics covered, issues raised and JANET(UK)’s proposed response.
  • The Board will review the stakeholder representation and the SCP process on an annual basis,
  • Additional panel members may be invited on an ad hoc basis for specific meetings at the discretion of the CTO.
