Network Transmission Infrastructure Request for Information

JANET(UK) and HEAnet are conducting an information gathering exercise for network transmission solutions between the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain and mainland Europe and have issued a Request for Information (RFI).

The information obtained from the RFI will be used by JANET(UK) and HEAnet in the following ways:

• JANET(UK): To inform both its forthcoming procurement for the next version of the JANET backbone and its external connectivity strategy.
• HEAnet: To inform both its connectivity options to the pan European research and education network GEANT and its external connectivity strategy.

Suppliers wishing to respond to the RFI should register its interest with the Procurement Unit at JANET(UK), procurement@ja.net and will be sent a copy of the RFI document.

JANET(UK) would like responses to the RFI by 12 noon on Friday 5th August 2011.
