JANET connectivity and services are delivered to the FE community in Northern Ireland by NIRAN (Northern Ireland Regional Academic Network).

The 16 colleges were incorporated in 1998. Many of the colleges are multi-campus with outreach centres in neighbouring towns and specialist vocational training course within or outside the main campus site.
